STAC Applauds the Enactment of the CHIPS and Science Act

August 9, 2022

Today, the Science and Technology Action Committee (STAC), a non-partisan coalition of non-profit, academic, foundation and business leaders advocating for greater focus and funding of science and technology, issued the following statement related to President Biden’s signature today on the Chips and Science Act:

President Biden’s signature today on the CHIPS and Science Act represents a major victory for science. This legislation authorizes funding for vital investments in scientific research and technology needed for the U.S. to once again take the lead in the global innovation race. The ripple effect of this legislation is equally tremendous, benefiting the economic well-being of millions of Americans, strengthening our national security, and making the United States more competitive internationally. Still, challenges lie ahead. Lawmakers now must work together to secure the funding for the vital programs authorized in this bill and ensure the broader fiscal 2023 appropriations process provides substantial investment in science and technology.
